When it comes to throwing a Halloween party at your place of employment, it can be easy to unintentionally do something that can be either inappropriate or dangerous. It’s always a good idea to err on the side of caution, especially if you are unsure whether or not something may cause offense to a co-worker or a similar type of situation.
Here is a list of Halloween party do’s and don’ts in the workplace:
Do
*Follow any and all safety guidelines during the party, especially involving your costume. For instance, if you work in a factory and decide to wear a costume that flows, you will need to think of something else, especially since you could be near any type of heavy machinery.
*Have fun with creating your costume. Be as creative as you can while, at the same time, ensuring that you follow all dress code guidelines for the establishment.
*Clean up after yourself during the party instead of leaving your mess for someone else to take care of.
*Ensure that your costume is appropriate and non-offensive
Don’t
*Use any open flames or sharp objects near yourself or anyone else. This could result in a serious injury.
*Wear any costumes that may be deemed too inappropriate, too sexy, too offensive, etc.
*Make anyone feel excluded from the celebration.
*Use decorations that could violate safety and/or fire codes.
